Printer installation in Windows 10

On January 14, 2020, Microsoft ended support of Windows 7. A computer running on this system functions normally, but it no longer receives software updates or security patches.

Please contact the institutes’ IT administrator at helpinst@mimuw.edu.pl to update your computer to Windows 10. More information can be found at: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-7-end-of-life-support-information

Below you will find a short instructional video on how to add a printer in Windows 10. If you encounter any problems with the installation, please contact the institutes’ IT administrator at helpinst@mimuw.edu.pl.

Open your web browser and then open the print server web page at https://cups.mimuw.edu.pl.
Select the Printers tab and choose a printer.
Copy the printer’s URL from the URL bar in the browser.
Open the computer’s print settings and click Add printer.
Wait until the following information appears: The printer I’m searching for is not on the list and then click on the link.
Select the option with the text field and paste the previously copied URL of the selected printer.
From the list of drivers, select the HP and the Universal Printer Driver. The PCL version does not matter.
Wait for the installation to finish.
Installation completed successfully.
