Terms and Conditions
Preface
These rules and regulations apply to all users of computer systems under the care of the Computer Laboratory (hereafter CL) of the UW Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Mechanics regardless of their place of study or work.
Administrative regulations
- The decision to grant the right to use the computer systems of the LK is made by the Dean of the Faculty.
- The organizational unit responsible for the operation of the systems is the Computer Laboratory. The head of the Laboratory is then responsible to the Dean for the smooth operation of the systems.
- Administrators have the authority to check the identity of persons using computer terminals and other equipment under the care of the CL.
- The permission to print 100 pages per semester is granted to students to allow printing of materials directly related to the learning process.
User's responsibilities
- The user should protect his access to their resources by choosing an adequate password and keeping it secret. If you notice that your account is being used by others, you should immediately notify the Laboratory Manager, Operator or Administrator. The same should be done if it is found that more than one account can be accessed.
- The user is obliged to follow the Administrator's recommendations regarding the technical conditions of use of the systems.
- The user should inform Computer Laboratory staff of any noted network/hardware failures, as well as of any attempts to breach the security of the systems.
- The user is financially responsible for any damage to computer equipment resulting from its misuse.
-
In their actions, the user should avoid actions that obstruct the work of other system users. This means, among other things:
- taking care of the computer equipment made available to him,
- making efficient use of disk space,
- sparingly using the occupied operating memory,
- sparing use of CPU time.
Prohibitions
- A Faculty account may be used only by the person to whom it was assigned and only for the purpose specified when it was assigned. The user is responsible for all operations carried out through the account assigned to him, as well as for any damage or illegal acts done using his account. The discovery of sharing the account or its password with another person will result in the immediate blocking of the account.
- It is forbidden to use for commercial purposes any hardware or software provided to users.
- It is forbidden to install and run software that violates the security of the system and other users (in particular, virus programs, network traffic monitoring programs, etc.).
- Copying of programs made available on computer systems and owned by the Department is prohibited. All software licensing rules must be strictly observed.
- It is forbidden to use one's own Web site to disseminate content that is illegal under Polish law, and by dissemination is meant both sharing one's own documents and creating permanent connections to other sources.
- It is forbidden to disconnect Ethernet and electrical workstations in computer rooms. Notebooks may be plugged into unoccupied electrical outlets, as well as in exercise rooms and corridors.
- It is forbidden to use CL computers for any games.
- It is forbidden to eat or drink in the Laboratory premises as well as to put any packages or dishes containing beverages on the desks next to the keyboards. By "Laboratory premises" it means all lecture halls and corridors on both levels.
- During the course of classes conducted in the CL laboratories, free computer stations may be used only with the permission of the instructor. In such a situation, every effort should be made not to disturb the classes. When classes are not in session, the rooms may be used without restriction during CL opening hours.
