Universal Windows driver

All HP printers (basically all publicly available printers) only require a single universal driver. There is no need to install several drivers to use different printers.

The universal driver is called Universal Printer Driver. The most recent version can be downloaded from the HP web page, but the version supplied by the Computer Laboratory will also do nicely.

Drivers for the modern Linux systems

All modern Linux systems allow for the installation of a CUPS printing system supporting the IPP Everywhere (http://www.pwg.org/ipp/everywhere.html). This technology allows for driverless printing. All printer and page settings are determined automatically during the first contact of the user’s computer with the print server.

Older Linux systems

Some of our employees use antique Linux installations, in which using IPP Everywhere is not possible. In such case, please use the HPLIP software (available as a software package in your distribution) or download the most recent archive from the HPLIP web page and find the required PPD file for the printer. For your convenience, all PPD files for publicly available printers are listed below. If you encounter any problems with the installation, please contact the institutes’ IT administrator at helpinst@mimuw.edu.pl.
